Roy Anderson, Consultant

Since joining The Beck Group in 2006, Roy has conducted log tests at sawmills in the U.S. West and the U.S. South and assisted in using the resulting information to build timber procurement/log valuation models. He has also assisted in analyzing the cost/benefit of sawmill optimization projects.

Roy has led market research projects related to the development of new forest products, analyzed regional timber supply issues, assisted in gathering information for an expert witness project, and participated in benchmarking studies.

Roy has over 15 years of experience in the field of forestry and forest products. Before joining The Beck Group, Roy was a forest products specialist with the Montana State University Extension Service. His responsibilities included developing and delivering forest products utilization and marketing outreach programs to Montana’s forest products industry and private forest landowners.

Prior to his experience in Montana, Roy earned a PhD in forest products marketing from Oregon State University and a Masters in wood science from the University of Minnesota. His research has been published in the Journal of Forestry and the Forest Products Journal. Before deciding to continue his education, Roy was a procurement forester, a hardwood lumber sales person, and a logger in Wisconsin’s hardwood timber industry.
